The Abbona family produces high quality wines, continuing, year after year, the work begun by the Marquises of Barolo more than two centuries ago There is a thread that binds people, vineyards, cellars and bottles: the knowledge and passion to produce wines that respect the unique characteristics of this wonderful territory with a very high wine vocation. Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are the faithful interpreters of the diversity of places, vineyards and vines. They rigorously respect and preserve their typicality by vinifying grapes from their own vineyards and from vine growers selected over many years, favouring the location and cultivation capacity of the individual vineyards.

Description

The Barbera grape variety is certainly the most classic cultivated on the Asti hills. The vineyards are characterised by predominantly marly and clayey soils, with the presence of quartzose sands and silt capable of ensuring the wine a fragrant and vigorous, yet balanced character as well as a broad expression of bouquet. Marchesi di Barolo's 'Rurè' offers an excellent interpretation of this vine

Organoleptic characteristics:

The colour is an intense ruby red, with slight violet hues. Fruity notes of plum and black cherry prevail on the nose. The body is full and elegant, with great persistence and freshness.

Storage time:

over 5 years

Vinification

The grapes, harvested exclusively by hand, are brought to the cellar and quickly destemmed before being gently crushed. Fermentation with maceration takes place at a controlled temperature and frequent pumping over allows the must to enrich itself with all the polyphenolic compounds in the skin. At the end of fermentation and an optimal level of extraction, racking is carried out.
