The Abbona family produces high quality wines, continuing, year after year, the work begun by the Marquises of Barolo more than two centuries ago
There is a thread that binds people, vineyards, cellars and bottles: the knowledge and passion to produce wines that respect the unique characteristics of this wonderful territory with a very high wine vocation.
Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are the faithful interpreters of the diversity of places, vineyards and vines.
They rigorously respect and preserve their typicality by vinifying grapes from their own vineyards and from vine growers selected over many years, favouring the location and cultivation capacity of the individual vineyards.
Description
Nebbiolo is a very eclectic grape variety. It draws fragrant and fruity aromas from the calcareous clayey hills, soils rich in quartzose sands and silt. The presence of grapes of the Michet variety, characterised by small, scattered bunches, enriches the wine with colour and extract. This union creates a wine of great completeness and harmony with a broad and immediate bouquet expression. A bottle that is always a guarantee on the table and lends itself to a multitude of pairings.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Ruby red colour, tending towards garnet. The bouquet combines the fruity scents of raspberry and the ethereal and spicy ones of violet and vanilla. The flavour is ample and well-balanced, with sweet tannins, never too prominent. Delicate woody note.
Storage time:
over 5 years
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled cement tanks. Maceration is aided by repeated soft pumping over of the
wine on the pomace cap, which allows gentle extraction of tannins and colour in a gradual and selective manner. Separation from the skins occurs only when this extraction is maximum.
