The Planeta family, of very ancient Spanish origin, has for 17 generations been committed to the promotion of Sicilian wine excellence, culminating in the great modern production reality we know today, an absolute protagonist of the Sicilian wine renaissance. The modern journey began in 1995 with the birth of the winery in Ulmo. Five estates in five different territories, Sambuca di Sicilia and Menfi (Agrigento), Vittoria (Ragusa), Noto (Siracusa), Castiglione di Sicilia (Catania) and Capo Milazzo (Messina). Different soils and climatic conditions give rise to different wines with a thousand facets, each with its own character and personality. A winemaking reality that has always been very attentive to environmental sustainability, so much so as to adhere to the 'Planeta Terra' project that has as its objectives: landscape protection, bio-architecture, renewable energy, recycled materials. With the 'Sostain' project, Planeta also combines traditional and organic viticulture with the application of scientific and technological innovations. A company that is always researching and studying native varieties, but at the same time also international varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet.

Description

Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli is a noble wine that comes from a careful selection of the vineyards surrounding the Dorilli estate, named after the nearby Dirillo river, legendary landing place of the valiant Aeneas. A fine and elegant expression, the result of the union of the noble Nero d'Avola with Frappato di Vittoria, the Hyblean vine par excellence, slightly marked by ageing in wood. A limited production for those who love small Italian denominations. Cultivation method according to the criteria of organic farming and the SOStain® protocol; grassed soils with field beans, vetch and wild flora to increase organic substance and nitrogen content, favouring the vitality of soil microfauna; phytosanitary defence with sulphur and copper in minimum quantities.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Ruby red colour with beautiful violet hues The olfactory spectrum is intense and bewitching with scents of strawberry and red fruits mingling with those of cardamom and sweet spices, vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate the tannin is ripe, soft and rounded and dissolves in the mouth thanks to an incredible sweetness of fruit. Oriental spices mingle with complex flavours of smoky notes, and aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub, marjoram and prickly pears.

Storage time:

2-10 years

Vinification

15/20 days of maceration with the skins. Malolactic fermentation took place in the same tanks; once completed, between December and January, ageing began in 26 hl and 36 hl oak casks for 12 months.
