Features
Name:
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 Fossacolle
Terrain:
Reddish-coloured clay with considerable presence of stones and pebbles.
Cellar
Fossacolle is a small jewel-cellar with only 4 hectares of land in the southern area of Montalcino. It is three generations united by a passion for wine. Marchetti Sergio, the owner of the winery, is part of an ancient family whose origins date back to the 18th century. The descendants of this family lived and worked as farmers in the lands of a great and noble family. At the beginning of the 1980s, the owner of these lands, selling the land where the Marchetti family lived, decided to donate the 'Podere Fossacolle' to them, so in 1984 the winemaking activity began with the first Sangiovese vineyards.
Description
Brunello di Montalcino from the small Tuscan jewel Fossacolle is produced from carefully selected Sangiovese Grosso grapes, hand-picked in small cases. It is a great red wine, soft, complex, balanced and very long-lived.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has an intense ruby colour. The nose shows aromas of ripe fruit that are supported on the palate by great body. Remarkable are the tannins, soft and unctuous in texture, very long-lived. This wine, with its excellent balance, promises with bottle ageing an increase in its bouquet, which is already elegant and complex.
Storage time:
15-25 years
Vinification
After a cold pre-fermentation for several days, they are vinified at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping over, punching down and delestage to optimise extraction from the skins during alcoholic fermentation.
