Cellar

Fossacolle is a small jewel-cellar with only 4 hectares of land in the southern area of Montalcino. It is three generations united by a passion for wine. Marchetti Sergio, the owner of the winery, is part of an ancient family whose origins date back to the 18th century. The descendants of this family lived and worked as farmers in the lands of a great and noble family. At the beginning of the 1980s, the owner of these lands, selling the land where the Marchetti family lived, decided to donate the 'Podere Fossacolle' to them, so in 1984 the winemaking activity began with the first Sangiovese vineyards.

Description

Riesci Toscana IGT 2019 from the Fossacolle winery is an excellent red wine made from Cabernet, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. Cabernet and Petit Verdot are vinified together, while the Merlot, which ripens earlier, is vinified separately and the Sangiovese is added later. The grapes are harvested by hand. This is a wine with great structure, intensity, long life and ageing potential.

Organoleptic characteristics:

It has a clear, vinous red colour, tending towards ruby. On the nose the fruit is surprising, ripe and intense, enveloping, captivating. The palate finds great structure and breadth and is gratified with an unexpected pleasantness, the tannins are velvety, the structure evolved but not tired.

Storage time:

10 years

Vinification

After a cold pre-fermentation for several days, they are vinified at a controlled temperature with frequent pumping over, punching down and delestage to optimise extraction from the skins during alcoholic fermentation.
