Features
Name:
Riesling SudTirol Vinschgau AOC 2024
Terrain:
sandy soils interspersed with granite, gneiss, slate, mica and quartz
Cellar
At the foot of the Sonnenberg in Naturno, at an altitude of 600-900 metres, Alpine and Mediterranean atmospheres intertwine and create a unique combination. The arid boulders create a wonderful contrast to the magnificent vines that thrive on the steep south and south-west facing slopes. While the sun shines during the day, evening air currents cool the vineyards from the heat of the day. Almost ideal conditions for a wine-growing area in South Tyrol. A winegrowing family. Craftsmanship and love of detail. Authenticity. Innovative tradition
Description
Falkenstein Riesling is the child of a great terroir and one of the most talented and rigorous winegrowers in South Tyrol. Considered for years among the best Italian labels. The Riesling vineyards are cultivated at an altitude between 700 and 900 metres above sea level with sunny south-facing exposure, on very steep slopes, with terracing supported by drystone walls. The climate is cool and characterised by considerable temperature fluctuations.

The nose is broad with citrus fragrances, aromas of white-fleshed peach, green apple, hints of apricot from the Vinschgau, delicate honeyed nuances and stony, mineral sensations. It delivers a full-bodied sip with echoes of apricot, peach and citrus, structured acidity and mineral notes and a savoury finish.
Storage time:
2-7 years
Vinification
fermentation and subsequent maturation in large acacia wooden barrels (10 months) on coarse yeasts, then bottle ageing (5 months)
