The Banfi winery was founded in 1978 by the Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani. Right from the start, the two brothers envisaged a large-scale project, integrating quality wine production with a modern winery with the aim of always maintaining the high quality level of the wines produced. Working alongside the Mariani family was Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's greatest oenologists, who immediately felt that due to the richness of the soil nature and the privileged microclimatic position, the territories acquired would have great potential for development.
In those years, the brothers John and Harry also took over the historic Piedmontese wine house Bruzzone, active since 1860 and specialised in the production of sparkling wines, to make it the group's Piedmontese brand, today Banfi Piemonte.
Description
Fonte alla Selva Gran Selezione is a great Chianti Classico made from pure Sangiovese grapes. The mild winter and summer characterised by excellent temperature ranges between the
day and night, favoured the excellent ripening and quality of the grapes. These conditions gave us a balanced and complex wine.
Organoleptic characteristics:
A wine with a complex aromatic baggage and a pleasantly soft structure. The nose releases typical aromas of cherry, plum and blackberry, accompanied by hints of liquorice. The ample structure is well balanced by good acidity. Excellent finish.
Storage time:
10 years
Vinification
Temperature-controlled (25-30°) in steel vats.
