The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of wine-making for more than six hundred years: ever since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. For 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this activity with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory. Every vintage, every soil, every idea is a new beginning, a new search for ever higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".

Description

Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione is produced exclusively from a selection of the best Sangiovese grapes from the estate of the same name located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The area has been renowned for wine production since the year 1000. The vineyards extend over limestone-rich soil with an average clay content at an altitude of approximately 300 metres above sea level. Ageing takes place in the historic cellars of the 10th-century Badia di Passignano.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Badia a Passignano is ruby red in colour. The nose is striking in its intensity: notes of ripe red fruits, cherries in spirit and black cherry, combine with delicate balsamic and herbal sensations. Spicy hints of cloves alternating with notes of chocolate complete the bouquet. On the palate, the entry is rich, with well-integrated tannins supported by excellent freshness and savouriness.

Storage time:

3-10 years

Vinification

Destemming and soft crushing. Alcoholic fermentation over approximately 10 days, maceration with the skins for a further 10-12 days. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
