The Antinori have dedicated themselves to the art of wine-making for more than six hundred years: ever since Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385.
For 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this activity with innovative and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining unaltered respect for tradition and for the territory.
Every vintage, every soil, every idea is a new beginning, a new search for ever higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit".
Description
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a ruby red colour. The nose is striking for its intensity and complexity. Notes of wild berries, especially blueberry, raspberry and redcurrant alternate with sweet hints of plum, black cherry and fresh sensations of mint, myrtle, liquorice and floral nuances of lavender; the rich bouquet is completed by sweet and well-integrated notes of cocoa powder and dried fruit alternating with spicy hints of cloves and pleasant sensations of lavender.

On the palate, the entrance is rich and enveloping, and then relaxes in a refined manner, with silky tannins supporting a long and persistent finish. In the aftertaste the menthol, liquorice and chocolate notes, perceived on the nose, return.
Storage time:
over 20 years
Vinification
During fermentation and maceration, great care was taken to maintain the correct balance between the fruit and the quality of the tannin in order to give the wine sweetness and fragrance as well as identity and character. Immediately after racking, malolactic fermentation was started in barriques, enhancing the complexity and pleasantness of the wine.
