Nestled among the granite rocks of Gallura, in Arzachena, stands the Italian wine-growing reality of Capichera, a family-run business that in the late 1970s, following a great intuition, determined an important oenological transition not only in Sardinia: it was the first winery to exploit the barrique ageing of Vermentino in purity with considerable success, proposing a model based on production of the highest quality and continuous research through viticulture that respects and rigorously respects the identity of the territory, allowing this vine to reveal its great peculiarities and characteristics.
Many authoritative critics in the sector still affirm today that the history of Capichera is the history of quality Vermentino.
Passion, the investment of great resources and the improvement of the production model over the years have defined new and high quality standards, with priority given to each vineyard and individual plot, enhancing its characteristics.
Over time, this process of development has led to innovative and exclusive results not only on Vermentino but also on Carignano and Syrah, resulting in reds of the highest profile, strongly identified with the Gallura territory and united by the same production philosophy.
Description
This is the company's iconic wine, first produced in 1980. It was born from the intuition of being able to obtain, from the Vermentino grapes, Capichera's favourite, a wine capable of competing with the great international whites. The best bunches of these grapes, cultivated in its land of choice, are transformed into a unique and identity wine, elegant and with a strong personality.
The name Capichera, from the Latin caput erat 'was the capital', is the ancient name of the family estate.
