Cellar

Situated on the slopes of the Taurasi hills, in one of the most vocated areas of Irpinia, the Nativ winery stands in the heart of Paternopoli, a land rich in history and tradition, where Mario Ercolino, an internationally renowned oenologist, and Maria Roberta Pirone, a 'food science specialist', are a couple who successfully dedicate themselves to the production of wines from native Irpinia vines, with the aim of making Wines of Excellence, the result of important and deep-rooted experience in the sector. The company, founded in 2008, is dedicated to the production of wines typical of the territory, in particular, Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Falanghina, Aglianico and Aglianico di Taurasi. The grapes are cultivated on their own land, known for its particular fertility due to the volcanic soil, and extend over about 15 hectares, between Paternopoli and Taurasi. The name NATIV was therefore created to represent, through the native productions, the origin of Irpinian Viticulture, thus delineating the concept of 'native of the place'. The peculiarities of the territory and the mountain (due to its proximity to the Picentini mountains) of the Mediterranean climate determine strong productive distinctions and situations of extreme originality and heterogeneity in the wines of the area, giving rise to wines with supreme characteristics, characterised by aromatic complexity, a velvety, full and elegant taste, and an intense and delicate aroma.

Description

Pure Aglianico matured in French oak barriques for two years. The vineyards from which the prized Bicento 53 is made grow on volcanic soil in the hills of Turasi. The name of this wine is due to the longevity of the vineyards from which it is made, which are 200 years old (pre-phylloxera). Bicento literally means 'twice a hundred'. Passione rossa represents the stirring energy of this great wine.

Organoleptic characteristics:

It presents a lively and luminous ruby colour. The olfactory spectrum suggests that we are dealing with a 'thoroughbred'. It first pronounces itself with fruity notes of sour cherries, black plum, blackberry, and dried fruit, then opens up to floral notes of dark flowers, iris and violet, and then again balsamic with star anise and liquorice. On the palate it is vigorous and enveloping with well-integrated aristocratic alcohol, fresh and harmonious with a finish of cocoa notes and liquorice root

Storage time:

10 years

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and arrive at the winery transported in small 20 kg crates. They are lightly pressed. At the end of fermentation, the wine is separated from the grape skins, followed by ageing in 2.25 hl French oak barriques for a period of 12 months.
