Their story began in 2015 when they realised they didn't have good craft gin in their bars produced in their home country and so they decided to establish Nao Spirits. 'Nao', which means boat in Hindi, is meant to be the union of contemporary spirits with a bit of Indian heritage. Gin and India have a strong link through history, in fact the famous Gin Tonic cocktail was created there by the British colonisers. Anand and Vaibhay started with the search for juniper; for Greater Than they decided to import it, while for their second product, Hapusa, they decided to use the local raw material, Hapusa, a type of Himalayan juniper found after various searches.
