At the end of the 19th century, Marquis Antonio de Viti de Marco built the Masseria a Li Veli: in this ancient place, the great Lecce economist decided to create what would later become the beacon and exemplary model of viticultural development for the whole of Apulia. However, over the following decades, the Masseria slowly saw the strength of that great Dream fade away.
But it was at the end of the 20th century, in 1999, that a family arrived from Tuscany: the Falvo Family, who in Montepulciano, over forty years, had contributed to writing one of the most beautiful pages of Vino Nobile and Vin Santo. This family fell in love with the dream of the great economist. And decided to buy and refound the Masseria, to dream again that ancient, great Dream of Marquis Antonio De Viti de Marco.
In 1999, about a century after the foundation of Masseria Li Veli, a group of investors, led by the historic Tuscan wine company Avignonesi, a protagonist since the early 1980s of the great promotion of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Vin Santo, purchased and refounded Masseria Li Veli with the desire to give life to a new project of great quality in Apulia, a region of ancient and noble wine-making traditions and great potential in the production of excellence. The project proceeded in alternating phases and remained in a state of limbo for a few years, until 2008, when the company was entirely purchased by brothers Edoardo and Alfredo Falvo, who launched a new ambitious project to restructure the company and reposition the brand. In just a few years, proprietary vineyards, bottles produced and markets increased considerably until Masseria Li Veli became one of Apulia's leading companies in terms of product quality and brand awareness.
Brothers Edoardo and Alfredo still personally manage the company's activities, with the collaboration of their cousin Alessandro, who joined the company in 2018.
