For 20 years, William Grant nurtured the dream of producing the 'best dram in the valley'. With the help of his family, he succeeded in realising this vision. In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William set out to realise his lifelong ambition. Together they began to build the distillery by hand, stone by stone. After just one year of work, the distillery was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, which in Gaelic means Valley of the Deer. William's passion, determination and pioneering spirit continue to drive the distillery today. Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain wholly family owned and today is the world's most awarded Single Malt Whisky*, a true reflection of our founder's innovative nature, passed down from generation to generation.

Description

In the wild Speyside region of northern Scotland. Glenfiddich is a name known to all enthusiasts and represents one of the best of the area. With a unique freshness from the same Highland spring water that has been used since 1887, its distinctive fruity flavour comes from the high cutoff point that William Grant has always insisted on. For the production of its single malts, Glenfiddich uses a careful selection of malted barley to which Robbie Dhu spring water heated to 64° is added. One of the most award-winning whiskies in the world.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Intense golden, fresh and fruity on the nose, with hints of honey, dried fruit, butter, malt, cereals and caramel. The palate evolves into aromas of butter, cream, malt, pear, toffee with a touch of oak. Long, smooth finish.

Storage time:

over 20 years

Vinification

Brewed from carefully selected malted barley to which water from the Robbie Dhu spring heated to 64° is added. From this mash begins the process of extracting all the sugars that will be transformed into alcohol during fermentation. Glenfiddich 12 is distilled in copper stills and aged for a minimum of 12 years in ex-sherry and American oak casks.
