Name:
Riesling Fallwind Alto-Adige DOC 2023
Terrain:
porphyritic soils (480-700m)
Cellar
In 1907, a small group of winegrowers decided to join forces to improve the quality of their labels, thus giving birth to the San Michele Appiano cooperative winery, which is today a reality that counts around three hundred and fifty members for an annual production that exceeds two million bottles. A veritable colossus, an absolute reference for the entire production world, not only in Alto Adige, that never fails to live up to expectations thanks to a range of unique reliability. From Gewürztraminer to Müller Thurgau, from Sauvignon to Riesling, from Pinot Bianco to Lagrein, each bottle is a perfect synthesis of the varietal from which it was born. Fresh and vibrant wines, characterised by a clear territorial appeal and surprising average quality.
Description
This grape variety of Germanic origin has found an ideal terroir of adoption in South Tyrol. Riesling needs special conditions and prefers a cool, sunny climate. These conditions are present in the areas around Lake Monticolo and in neighbouring micro-zones, where the porphyritic soils give the wine its special character. The Riesling of the 'Fallwind' line is a fresh, direct and pleasant white wine, which differs from the more full-bodied, lovable and complex German Rieslings.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Greenish yellow in colour. The nose opens with intense aromas of white peach, fresh apricot, herbaceous and citrus aromas, with good persistence. The palate is intense with aromatic returns of sage, mint, lime, tropical fruit and balsamic herbs. Balanced and mineral.
Storage time:
3-5 years
Vinification
Fermentation in steel containers. Maturation on fine lees for a further 5 months follows.
