Cellar
The Tua Rita wine cellar is a true excellence in the Tuscan region. Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio began their journey into the wine world with 2 hectares of vineyards in 1984. From the original 2 hectares of vineyard, cultivated with the utmost rigour right from the start and which placed Tua Rita among the first happy Italian experiences built on the 'vin de garage' model, in the space of about ten years they grew to 9, then to 20, at the beginning of the new millennium, to arrive at the current 30 hectares of vineyards. Enlarged and completely overhauled between 2000 and 2002 to support a high-profile production, which now stands at 220,000 bottles, Tua Rita's wine cellar obeys operational requirements first and foremost, in the great Italian tradition of the artisanal winery. Few and unobtrusive, moreover, are the oenological interventions. Annual production oscillates around 250-280 thousand bottles. The company produces both red and white wines, all with an extremely elegant and personalised style.
Description
The Perlato del Bosco Rosso of the Tua Rita winery is a pure Sangiovese that originates in the Alta Maremma. When the winery was purchased, the predominant variety, along with Trebbiano, was Sangiovese. After several vinifications, in an attempt to bring out the full potential of Tuscany's greatest grape variety, a new path was attempted.
In 2003, a vineyard was planted with a clone selected to better adapt to the dry climate and hot summer temperatures of the Tuscan coast. In 2011 was the first harvest with grapes solely from this vineyard. The wait was long, but well worth it. The clone, the soils and the special pedo-climatic conditions express all the power of Sangiovese in this wine.
