Cellar
Between the municipalities of Scerni, Pollutri, Casalbordino and Vasto, Cantina Jasci & Marchesani's vineyards cover 33 hectares. A family dedicated to organic wine production as far back as 1960, ahead of even the very idea of sustainable treatment, and achieving official certification in 1978, among the first Italian companies. Each vineyard gives life to a different product, those cultivated in the Sinello valley offer the saline and savoury whites, while the clay soil of the hills of the middle Vasto area, for exposure and temperature range a unique and sought-after Montepulciano like Janù. The strength of the family bond and the division of tasks and responsibilities can be clearly perceived in a superior quality wine product. Today, Mamma Marchesani and Papa Jasci still have their good eyes to supervise the progress of the cellar, while Nicola holds the reins, leaving his wife Federica in charge of the technical-wine-making aspect and his sister-in-law Teresa the careful administration of it. In the conviction that the organic philosophy is still unexpressed compared to its potential, tenacity and perseverance are our only secrets. And if fifty years ago this seemed like the choice of alchemists or Carbonari, today many people recognise them as having inaugurated organic farming as pioneers, with the ability to make the most of the special Vasto microclimate between sea and mountains.
Description
Long experience, love of the land and work have been combined with courageous choices that have led the Jasci & Marchesani winery to opt for an increasingly lower yield per hectare, until reaching ⅓ of traditional production. On early grapes, treatments are reduced with only 4 months of defence and the vineyard is strengthened by restoring a healthy balance between acidity and sugars. The result is in the uniqueness of non-standard wines such as the Montepulciano Janù, which is the standard bearer for all-round quality on the olfactory, taste, expressive and health levels. An organic Montepulciano 100% , a profound wine that we recommend to open and oxygenate before tasting.
Organoleptic characteristics:
Intense and impenetrable ruby red in colour, persuasive on the nose with dusty cocoa notes, great concentration of fruit, blackberry compote, cocoa butter, powder, reverberations of dried fruit such as hazelnut and a background of roasting. On the palate, it reveals itself to be full-bodied, enveloping, overall balanced, consistent with the olfactory examination.

10 years
