Gaja wines have long been an integral part of Made in Italy, a recognisable brand and object of desire for all wine lovers. Angelo Gaia is a star on the world wine scene. A producer who is credited with having transformed not only the image and international reputation of his Piedmont region, but also that of Italy. He has greatly influenced the processes of grape growing, winemaking, distribution and marketing. Gaia is one of the few brands able to compete with the best producers in Bordeaux and Burgundy in both quality and price.
The Gaja family settled in Piedmont in the mid-17th century. Five generations have taken turns in wine production since Giovanni Gaja founded the winery in Barbaresco, in the heart of the Langhe, in 1859.
Today Gaja owns around 250 hectares of vineyards in the provinces of Tuscany and Piedmont, producing around 350,000 bottles annually.
