The Anselmets were pioneers in the rediscovery and valorisation of forgotten indigenous grape varieties such as Petit Rouge, Cornalin, Fumin, Mayolet, and Muscat. But they have also been courageous disseminators of international grape varieties, cultivated and vinified according to an authentic Valdostan spirit. The first Anselmet we know of was Antoine, a 16th-century winemaker. His name appears in the deed of purchase of a vineyard at Introd, a village lying on the left bank of the Dora Baltea, west of Aosta, whose valley, from 1400 onwards, represents the most important wine-growing area in the region. Since then, the bond with the land and the wines produced here has never abandoned the family. Through the generations and the daily challenges to which the mountain subjects its inhabitants, the Anselmet family has dedicated its existence to the land and the rows of vines, handing down an artisan knowledge that, over time, has been enriched by the experiences, encounters and knowledge accumulated by its members.

Description

Chardonnay 'élevé en fût de chêne' is a wine from the vineyards of the Anselmet winery in Valle d'Aosta. This great barrique wine with a full and persistent flavour was produced from white Chardonnay grapes.

Organoleptic characteristics:

It has an intense, brilliant straw yellow colour. On the nose, aristocratic woody scents of spices, vanilla and butter of clear Burgundian ancestry. Palate of solid structure, notable pulp and absolute technical definition, with a refined and integrated use of the barrique in the elegant smoky hints that embellish a finish with a full and persistent flavour
