Maison Salon is a small producer of critically acclaimed Champagne Blanc de Blancs throughout the world. Salon, together with the Maison Delamotte, has been part of the large Laurent-Perrier group since 1989. The Salon company was founded by a fur trader Aimé Salon Eugène in the 20th century.
Description
Salon Cuvée brut is an extremely rare vintage champagne, produced exclusively in the best vintages. Only 37 vintages were produced in the 20th century, a unique phenomenon in the wine world. This is the 44th edition in the 120 years since the Maison Salon was founded and the vintage to which it refers.
Champagne Salon is, as always, placed under the sign of the number one: it was born as the fruit of the intellect of a single man, Aimé Salon, of a single terroir, the Cote des Blancs, of a single cru, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, of a single grape variety, Chardonnay, and is the unique child of a single vintage.
Organoleptic characteristics:
In natural light, Salon 2013 offers a radiant guise, while golden hues dance with green reflections in the glass, a reliable indication of a superb Blanc de Blancs. On the nose, white flowers, lime blossom, jasmine and bergamot zest form its bouquet, with the classic minerality of Le Mesnil. The greatness of the terroir emerges, subtle and profound. At once rich and long, the palate shows perfect balance, its power restrained. The warm character of the vintage is tangible, boasting good structure with elegant round aromas of baked apple, toasted hazelnut and salted butter caramel. The chalky, mouthwatering finish, supported by evanescent bubbles, bears Salon's signature. The wine's origins have the last word: Le Mesnil expresses itself in its forthright, consummate and finely honed character; Salon 2013 unveils an unexpected strength.
