Cellar

The history of the wine cellar began 150 years ago, already under the far-sighted banner of eco-sustainability from the natural stone subsoil, it was later modernised and transformed into one of the most beautiful and tradition-rich private wine cellars in South Tyrol. It is here that Elena Walch wines are born, artfully created from the best grapes following a sustainable approach, with full respect for nature and the environment. a leading South Tyrolean family-run winery, a flagship of Italian wine production and internationally renowned. As a promoter of quality and innovation, Elena Walch has helped to lead the South Tyrolean quality revolution, thus earning a high local and international reputation. An architect by profession, Elena Walch married the heir to one of the oldest wine families in the region, bringing with her new concepts for modernising the traditional winery. Today, the company is run in the hands of her daughters Julia and Karoline Walch, the fifth generation of the family. The profound conviction that the quality of wine is born in the vineyard thus brings with it the will to work without compromise, respecting the individual characteristics of each vineyard. With 60 hectares under cultivation, Elena Walch ranks among the most important wine personalities in South Tyrol. The wines are distinguished by their character, elegance and distinct personality, combined with a high level of professionalism. The superb climatic conditions and the exceptional location of the estates result in fresh, fruity white wines as well as concentrated, smooth red wines.

Description

Label from the 'Selezione' line, an expression that reveals the typicality of the vine in purity from vines trained using the spurred cordon method and exposed to the south on very steep terrain. The strong temperature fluctuations between daytime and night-time temperatures, combined with the particular terroir and perfect exposures and the great skill of this producer, succeed in giving this Gewurztraminer great personality, a fresh and immediate wine that invites repeated tastings.

Organoleptic characteristics:

In the goblet it descends brilliant straw yellow colour turning to golden. The nose releases distinct phloeal notes of rose and spices. The palate is soft with an aromatic charge and a dry, persistent finish.

Storage time:

3-4 years

Vinification

Before fermentation, a 6-hour maceration on the skins takes place. The grapes are then softly pressed and the must undergoes static clarification. It is then fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18°C. The wine then matures for several months on its lees in stainless steel containers.
