Terrain:
predominantly Cretaceous, limestone, rich in skeleton
Cellar
1960, the passion of Sergio Zenato was born in San Benedetto di Lugana. A story of passion and work; of full identity with its territory and its people; of entrepreneurial ability and openness to innovation with new winemaking techniques and investment in native vines.
A story that from the shores of Lake Garda has reached the hills of nearby Valpolicella, where the company's reds are born from the sunny vineyards of Corvina and Rondinella at Costalunga, in the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio.
Description
Amarone Riserva "Sergio Zenato" is a precious jewel that is only made in vintages of excellence from the selection of the best Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes from the oldest vineyards cultivated in Sant'Ambrogio, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. A wine of extreme balance and suitable for long ageing.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a deep ruby red colour, tending to garnet with age. The nose is intense, fruity (cherry, morello cherry and small berries), spicy. On the palate it is warm, full, with great structure.
Storage time:
over 20 years
Vinification
the grapes are left to dry for about four months in dry, well-ventilated fruit lofts. Only in January, after the natural drying process, are the grapes pressed. This is followed by a slow fermentation for 15-20 days on the skins
