The story of Umani Ronchi began fifty years ago, in Cupramontana, the home of classic Verdicchio, and then explored many other areas of the precious land of the Adriatic. Today, Umani Ronchi is the wine company owned by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, which since 1957 has been producing, with care and craftsmanship, wines of great quality, making the most of those grape varieties that find their natural and best expression in the lands of the Marche and Abruzzo: Verdicchio and Montepulciano. From Serra dei Conti, in the Marche region, to Roseto degli Abruzzi, the company has a 210-hectare vineyard area, all distributed along the Adriatic coast, between the hills and the sea: 185 km of rows and 10 vineyards, each with its own vocation and terroir. Numbers that tell of a continuous, almost spasmodic search for the "best" land and the most advanced agronomic and oenological techniques. From the 1970s to today, the company has doubled the number of hectares owned and renewed the 85% of old vines. It has invested in Verdicchio and Rosso Conero, it has recovered and valorised vines such as Pecorino and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, always and in any case setting itself qualitatively high oenological objectives. The Umani Ronchi company is guided by a strong ethical approach, and respects the environment with great consideration for the territory and biodiversity. An approach that immediately becomes concrete when talking about precision viticulture, the management of machinery for vineyard treatments, and organic fertilisation. A sustainable attitude that also guides the choice of materials: the lightweight glass of the bottle has a lower impact on CO2 emissions, while the synthetic stoppers produced from sugar cane are 100% recyclable. Then there is the photovoltaic system for energy production. Everything expresses a sustainable way of thinking and acting.

Description

Cúmaro, from the Greek 'komaros' arbutus, an evergreen shrub typical of the woods of Monte Conero, where the grapes for this wine grow. Thanks to a very strict selection of the grapes in the field and the use of modern vinification and ageing techniques, it knows how to exalt an area close to the sea and very calcareous and a vine with character such as Montepulciano. With the 2004 vintage, it won the Denominazione d'Origine Controllata e Garantita Conero Riserva.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Deep ruby red in colour, with garnet highlights, it offers an intense bouquet from which a lovely ripe fruitiness of plum, currant and morello cherry emerges immediately, on a spicy background of black pepper, vanilla and tobacco. In the mouth, it is soft and enveloping, with well-smoothed tannins and a pleasant dry and elegant finish.

Storage time:

4-9 years

Vinification

The destemmed and lightly crushed grapes are fermented at 27-29°C in steel fermenters for 12-14 days on indigenous yeasts. The wine then goes through the malolactic fermentation phase
