Scapegrace is an award-winning craft liquor company, one of the best in New Zealand. In addition to its extraordinary location, it has the privilege of drawing exceptional water from the Clutha River, which comes from a glacier.
Description
Scapegrace Gin is distilled by hand in small batches. It is made from pure wheat and infused with botanicals from around the world. Naturally black, thanks to the colours and aromas of the botanical extracts, including Aronia berries, saffron, pineapple and sweet potato. In combination with the tonic, the liquid transforms from a black to a vibrant pink-purple hue.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has a black colour. The nose is full and citrusy. Resinous with juniper, dry earthy and has slight tropical sweetness later on.
The palate is full-bodied, chilling with a sweet potato and candied pineapple finish, the mouthfeel is luxurious, velvety and ridiculously delicious.

Vinification
Single batch distillation in a 19th century copper pot still.
Botanicals: Lemon peel, orange peel, coriander seeds, cardamom pods, nutmeg
cardamom, nutmeg, juniper berries, cloves,
angelica root, liquorice root, iris root, cinnamon sticks
cinnamon, cassia bark plus raspberry leaves, pear and olive.
