The Biondi Santi are credited with starting the tradition of Brunello di Montalcino. It rarely happens that the origins of a wine can be traced back to one man. Brunello di Montalcino, however, owes its existence to the Biondi Santi family, who began vinifying pure Sangiovese in Montalcino in the 1800s. Since 1888, the first vintage of Brunello in history, Biondi-Santi has continued to produce wines renowned for their elegance and longevity. Careful attention to detail and craftsmanship aimed at excellence have accompanied the company throughout its history, making the Brunello produced at Tenuta Greppo one of the most renowned Italian wines of all time.
Description
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva 2015 is a great Italian wine known all over the world. The wine was first produced in 1888. The Biondi-Santi Riserva is the first Brunello in history, and even today at Tenuta Greppo, the historic headquarters of Biondi-Santi, the announcement of a new Riserva is an exceptional event.
It is a rare and special wine. Renowned for its extraordinary longevity, it has only been produced 40 times and its production is extremely limited. Traditionally, the grapes for the Riserva come from the oldest vineyards over 25 years old.
Organoleptic characteristics:
It has an intense garnet red colour. On the nose, the fruit is immediately intense and compact with dark cherry, pomegranate and blood orange, so typical of Biondi-Santi wines, while notes of Mediterranean scrub give off hints of thyme, rosemary and sage. Floral sensations, of red roses and violets, and then undergrowth are added later. On the palate, the wine, seductive and full of charm, lies on the palate with caressing sweetness, while the pleasantly scratchy tannins underline its considerable structure and contribute to creating a beautiful sensation of freshness that cleanses the palate, leading towards a very long, savoury aftertaste.
Storage time:
up to 50 years
